Our Daycare is a wonderful option for all dogs and puppies. What's better than coming home to a tired dog? How about coming home to a tired and better trained dog! While we have a variety of daycare options, our program is designed to maintain or advance your dog's obedience skills. This is different than a traditional daycare setting, as the focus is on training. While there is play time, it is closely supervised and structured in a way to promote learning and appropriate behavior.
At The Modern K9, we provide a safe and fun environment for your furry friend to play and socialize in. Our trained staff will ensure your dog is well-cared for and happy.

Drop Off between 6:30-9:00 AM and Pick Up between 3:30-6:00 PM.
Random drop in’s throughout the day can greatly disrupt playtime, we are happy to accommodate early pick ups but please let us know when you drop off your dog, what time we should expect you back if you will be before 3:30.
Dogs will have 5+ hours of supervised free play to expand on their social skills. We only accept a small number of dogs per day, which allows us to watch dogs carefully and redirect them when needed. During playtime, all dogs work on coming when called, and manners like not jumping on us or the counters! Follow us on facebook and instagram to see photos of the pups playing each day!
If your pup is signed up for basics or day training, they will participate in formal one-on-one training sessions throughout the day focused on what you are struggling with at home! Training sessions typically last 7-10 minutes but will be shorter if your dog is not working for food/treats.
Being able to relax in the house is a life skill that is incredibly useful, especially for high-energy dogs! We teach this by teaching dogs to relax on beds throughout our training room as other dogs are training!
Please reach us at (507) 577-1929 if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Drop-off is from 6:30-9:00 a.m. and pick-up is from 3:30-6:00 p.m.
Dogs MUST be current on the following:
For Puppies 20 weeks and younger
For Dogs Over 20 Weeks
We do take intact males and females! If a female is in heat we strongly prefer they not come to daycare but, we are comfortable taking them if you need care for the day. Please make sure to notify us.
Questions about intact females and heat cycles? Our staff members are familiar and happy to answer any questions!
We do not require a meet & greet. We feel as though short meet & greets do not allow us to get to know your dog well enough. We prefer to have your dog experience a true day of daycare and, if at the end of the day we don't feel as though your dog will fit in with our program we will let you know.
We welcome owners to stop in to see the facility or meet our staff between 3:30-6:00pm Mon-Fri but ask that dogs be left at home. If you would like your dog to come in for a meet & greet, please schedule a 30 minute private lesson.
Leash, collar & if you are doing basics or day training please bring your dogs breakfast or treats!
The Modern K9 realizes every canine is an individual. With each individual dog comes unique personalities, goals, and needs. We use a variety of methods on a case by case basis to achieve these goals.
We are a balanced training facility. We rely primarily on positive reinforcement and rewarding dogs for good behavior using marker words in combination with treats, toys, praise, play, and whatever else motivates the dog. This is especially true when laying foundations and training new skills. We don't believe it is fair to punish a dog that hasn't been taught the correct behavior clearly and consistently through positive reinforcement first.
With this being said, we do not limit ourselves to only positive reinforcement. We believe that dogs can understand right versus wrong. For effective communication, we use a variety tools which can include food, toys, treats, leash pressure, non-marker words, prong collars, and electronic collars. We are committed to training in a way that is fair to the dog and promotes mutual respect between canine and owner.
If Rochester Public schools are canceled, we will accept day of cancelations for a full refund to your account.
We do offer payment plans through Affirm & Klarna for board & train and daycare packages, please email us to set up!
